Audacity is a popular tool for recording audios. It is also free.
It is easy to use once you have it set up, but the set up process may be confusing for some, so we created a video to show how to get it working properly.
2024 update: I recently installed Audacity on a new computer (Windows 11) and did not need to enable Stereo Mix or install a LLAME file, but am including the instructions here anyway. The Stereo Mix instructions are different from what is shown in the video so I created a new video to show how to do it in case anyone needs it.
