Facebook used to have what were called “Canvas” ads. They have been replaced with “Experience” ads, which have a lot more functionality.

An Experience ad is, at the core, a regular Facebook ad with an additional webpage(s) attached. The page is still within Facebook and loads very quickly. These ads are only shown on mobile devices where the delivery speed is very important.

They also allow more links, and tend to get a lot more engagement than regular ads.

We created a video that introduces this and shows how to create an Experience ad.

2024 update: These ads are basically the same as they were when this post was created. The link still goes to the instructions. The instruction site looks a bit different, but the same information is there.
