How to Use the Google Keyword Planner

Google has a good (free) keyword suggestion tool that will also give estimates (from the horse’s mouth, so to speak) of monthly searches for each keyword.

The problem is that several years ago Google stopped giving exact estimates and now, for search volume, the Keyword Planner gives vague estimates (ie 10K – 100K) which are pretty useless.

There is a way to get around this and to get a more exact estimate of the searches for a keyword, but it is not obvious, unless you are creating an ad.

And, many of the existing explanations are outdated. We received a suggested blog post from a MRIC member, but when I went there and tried to follow it, it just didn’t coincide with what I was seeing.

So I spent several hours trying to figure out how to use the current platform to get more precise search estimates and created a video to show you how to do it.

It is easy once you know how, but a bear to try to figure out from scratch…
