Loom is a Chrome Extension that allows you to create quick screen capture or webcam videos.
It is similar to Screencast Capture (which replaced Jing and which I use on almost a daily basis) with a couple of notable exceptions:
- Loom allows you to create webcam videos, which Capture does not,
- Loom lets you download the video, whereas with Capture you have to upload it to Screencast.com
- Capture lets you do image capture as well as videos, which Loom does not, and
- Capture will automatically upload your video to Screencast.com, where it will stay indefinitely. Loom’s video link expires in 7 days unless you refer someone to them,
So, I guess one will not replace the other, but each has its place…
Here is a short video that demonstrates how to download and use Loom.
