Power Learning Section

This is a new section devoted to strategies that we can use to learn things more efficiently.  I will start off with reading more quickly and efficiently, then move on to mathematics, spelling, memory and other ways that we can gather and process information more efficiently.

This has been a special interest of mine for quite a while.  When I was in school I always loved learning new things.  I remember in high school each spring we would get a printout (about an inch thick) that listed all the classes that were being offered.  It was like Christmas.  I would spend hours reading through it and figuring out what courses I would take the next fall.  OK…I was somewhat of a dork, but I loved to learn new things.

More recently I have been trying to learn more about how to read and do calculations more efficiently, how to improve my memory, etc.

I know that everyone, business owners, students, anyone who needs to keep learning and improving themselves, is inundated with information every day.   How do you separate the information you really need from the fluff?  That is the subject of the first “leg” of this section…what I have decided to call “Power Reading”.

I recently purchased an ebook which describes a great system for getting to the heart of a book, extracting the relevant information and discarding the “fluff”.  On a whim, I ran a few paragraphs of the book through copyscape and found that the “author” had copied “How To Double Your Power to Learn” by Eugene Schwartz pretty much to the letter.

Therefore, the model for the reading part of this section will be the book by Eugene Schwartz.  There are several copies available through Amazon for about $7.  If, by any chance, you purchased “5 minute learning machine”, know that the book you bought was plagarized.

Next, we move on to Math.  OK…I will admit it.  I love math.  I have always been quite good at it.  Over the last few years I have been looking for ways to improve my ability to do  calculations in my head.  I have found a few ways that I can use, and am sharing them here.

I hope to share my interest in math with those who, for whatever reason, just don’t think they can do it, as well as with those who are good at math and want to get better.  I am creating a series of videos that will have you doing things you never thought possible.
