Hello everyone,
I have this dilemma, and to a certain degree I understand that the best way to find an answer will be to test this, but before I do, I still want to gather opinions from the pros.

John Carlton’s Best Ads: Butt-Ugly Golf
I've written something like 4,000 direct mail letters and direct response ads for golf products now. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but not much. Sometimes, the best ads come from sheer desperation. I was hitting the very bottom of my bag of tricks last year,...

John Carlton’s Best Ads: The Nearly-Crippled Businessman
Here is an early self-defense letter, which struck a major nerve in the customer base for this market. It's run every year for the last decade in the major magazines and mailed even more often to hotlists. The appeal is simple and to the point: This is hard-core...
Hi Vitaly,
I think that you’re right in that you’re not going to know for sure until you test it. But I will add that from a consumers perspective, I’m more likely to make a purchase with a site that gives me the options and provides prices upfront… provided that it seems like a reasonable price. I would rather do that than fill out a quote…Read more
Yeah, Vitaly, you answered your own question here (and Pete supported it) yourself: You’re not sure which is worse (re: having price shoppers call in droves, or not call at all). This is the age-old question in marketing — how much info to withhold, how much to share, how much to make a big deal about, how much to compare against the competition,…Read more
