Hello everyone, feels great to be here. I am creating a new funnel for a product which teaches list building & email marketing. It’s a tripwire funnel & my funnel goes like this: Opt-in page—>Bridge Page(with my story)—->Sales page—-> Upsell sequence. My objective here is to get my funnel critiqued & solve any potential issues I might face…Read more

Hi Everyone!
I’m an English/ESL teacher from Toronto and I do test prep for IELTS, an English language test required to get into university and for professional equivalency accreditation.
My major marketing challenge is that I’m selling a painful product (I actually joined this mastermind because of what JC said about bodybuilders being the…Read more

Hi Jan: Welcome to the Club!
For the guarantee, you could say that if they don’t get the score they need that they can retake the course until they pass.
Or you could do something similar to what John and Stan do in the SWS coaching program. Give a time limit (theirs is 2 weeks) and say that the student must complete a couple of assignments.…Read more

John is conducting a live SWS Express course starting tomorrow. If you go to the Simple Writing System link you can sign up for that and get him to critique your responses.

I like the 2nd option. Some students are not in a rush and as a result, their writing is often sloppy, much more so than when they are 100% focused. If I let them take the course again, they would interpret this as “lifetime access” to writing feedback.

Thank you – I signed up.

Howdy folks. I just signed up to be a marketing rebel. I have given myself a deadline to actually stop “thinking about” my business and actually put it out there for the world to see. I look forward to working with the peeps in the group.

Welcome, Shay. Any questions you have, just post them here.
What type of business are you starting?

John Carlton’s Best Ads: Hyper-Effective Cover Letters #1 — My All-Time Favorite Cover Letter
There are two keys to the following cover letter. First is the personalization in the subhead. That alone is a compelling way to engage the reader. Second, though, is a much more subtle tactic. It's disarming, clever, and hits directly at the...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: Short, Old-As-Dirt “Nice Guy” Finishes First
Let's count the ''tricks" I pulled out of my bag for this ad: A take-away superscript. (Gone in 11 days.) Instant urgency. Long headline. A compelling "not what you expected" type of headline. This is self-defense ...and yet we're talking about old short guys in the...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: We Screwed Up Big Time
Here is a good example of a "lipstick" letter. The reference is to the old comedy routine of coming home with lipstick on your collar -- and obviously dire situation that would crush a normal man. But a top – notch salesmen should be able to talk his way out of...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: The “Piss Everyone Off and Then Apologize” Letter
Here is the letter I mention in “Kick-Ass Copywriting Secrets” where the personalized headline enraged so many people. I was only trying for a “visceral” connection in the headline — you know, give people’s hot button about vulnerability a gentle rap. Get a reaction.

The Freelance Course

I do have a specific challenge with my funnel in regards to subscriber engagement that I’m running into. I recently started a small campaign where I collected close to 100 subscribers. Primarily I use solo endorsements/email traffic. The open rate on my first email was close to 18% after which it settled between 8-12%. I feel that is a little low…Read more
Hey Pete
Thanks for the reply.
So, first let me break down on all the things you have suggested I work on.
1. Make the landing page offer more clear. Right now it’s: “The “Secret System” To Build A Passive Online Income – Starting Today” and that’s it. There are 2 things you want me to work on:
a. You want me to include a BIG idea with a u…Read more
Hey Pete
Thanks for your helpful replies. So, based on your suggestions:
1. I will try coming up with new hooks & see how they perform by split-testing.
2. Split-test between sending subscriber straight to sales page & first sending them to story page.
3. I know there are some shady players in the biz-opp market & I too have been exposed to a…Read more
Hey Pete
I’ll send over the new thank-you page link by tomorrow.
I am a little confused with regards to funnel pricing, I have 2 options I’m considering.
1. $9.97—>$27—>$17(Downsell)—>$77
2. $17—>$47—>$27—->$97
I know at the end of the day I need to split test & see what works best but from your experience which do you think will…Read more
My designer was able to complete the new page too.
Let me know what you think.

Hey Pete
Again, thanks for your help.
I too think a lower price point will work better.
I followed the recommendations from “How to price your offer” section from this blog post: https://www.igorsoloads.com/blog/super-affiliate-marketing-traffic/
to come up with the price.
I also purchase traffic from them & Igor even helped me with the…Read more
Also I had run another campaign a while back & there the open rates were far better with 42% open rate on the first email & between 15-20% on the other.

Congratulations on making the bold move to sign up, friend.
I really admire & respect you for doing so.
It ain’t flattery.
The reason I say that is because what you did takes GUTS. It takes guts to step into the unknown, to put yourself on the line & to search for a solution.

Hi Pete
Thanks for your recommendation.
Based on it, I have decided to do a split test.
Here are the 2 versions I’ll be split-testing:
Version 1:
Opt-in page: http://www.clkmg.com/david1/1cpu01
Thank-you page: http://www.clkmg.com/david1/bridge1
Welcome email:

Version 2
I will add a pre-headline that says “FREE Report Reveals..” to a duplicate of this opt-in page:

Thank-you page: http://www.clkmg.com/david1/bridge2
Welcome email:
From name: David Dave
SL: Welcome! Your free report access is inside..

Making the change to the from name is difficult because the rest of the emails in my follow-up series will also contain the same from name & if I include something like “secret-system” in it that’ll look a bit odd.
Let me know if you suggest any other changes to any part of the 2 versions.
My campaign starts on 13th. So, any additional changes…Read more
Hey Pete
There was a delay & my campaign is just about to start. Let’s see if the new changes improve email engagement.
While we are waiting, I just want to get your thoughts on how much technical things like page loading speed & mobile-friendliness affects conversions.
I was able to find a couple of resources in the marketingrebelclub lessons…Read more
Hi Pete
Thanks for your reply.
But I’m not very technical.
I just got someone from fiverr to create my websites & he purchased my hosting, domain & created all my websites using this platform: https://cpanel.com/
But my hosting is about to expire.
So, can you just let me know what would be a good hosting service to use along with any other…Read more
Hi Pete
I signed up for Todd Brown’s e5camp last week. I don’t know if you are aware of it but it’s all about helping us create funnels to get customers from cold traffic. So, I have been busy with that.
So as per your recommendation I will sign up with deluxe hosting. Apart from that are there any other technical things I need to worry…Read more
