Morning folks! Recently in part 1 of Crash Course John is talking with group about USP and both him and Brad make mention of Rosser Reeves briefly and I thought for benefit of those not familiar, here in MRIC, I’d elaborate;
You probably already know about the USP, or unique selling proposition. It’s an advertising concept that dates back many d…Read more

So…I’m watching a webinar that says the “Long Form Sales Letter” is DEAD! It’s being replaced by a series of blog posts over time that does the same thing. Am I losing my mind or is the world totally out of control? Maybe I should stop watching webinars, huh?

Hi John. It’s either an older webinar, or someone recycling the panic of 10 years ago, when video sales letters first arrived. The market for selling advice on advertising has been crowded for a long time, and you gotta be outrageous to get attention…
… and an easy way to do that is to smash common wisdom. The truth was, back then, that VSLs…Read more

SWEAR to God, John, it was live today. When they said that I dropped out. And I respected these folks, up until then.
I mean, I’ve read Hopkins, Caples, Schwab, Schwartz (well, reading him now), these guys are talking about human nature, not just advertising (IMHO). That doesn’t change regardless of the technology?
I DO get the idea that EVERY…Read more

John: Just a long shot (not!) but are these guys selling some type of blogging system?
Actually, a blog can worm up your prospects so they are more anxious to buy when you send them to a sales letter. Also, all the sales concepts that apply to a letter also apply to blog posts, though much more subtly.

It’s a kind of Jeff Walker thing. Not really a launch except taking his concept and doing it via blogging.
Yeah, we’ve been warming up our audience for the last 13 months – really the last 90-120 days since the launch of our redesigned website. Built a free membership of almost 1,100. Have a mailing list of about 2,000. All with, virtually, no…Read more

Everything works together. You can’t say any part of the sales process is “dead”. What tools you use just depend on what you want to accomplish . Best of luck on your launch. If there is anything (copy/funnel/other project/website/business model/etc) that you want John and Stan to review just apply for a hot seat. They don’t have one…Read more

TFT: Total Freak out Tuesday
Guys (John / Stan), MRIC Folks:
I’m in a weird position… I’m stuck at this corporate job missing out on my kid’s lives, no flexibility, no opportunity to maximize my income, nada. I got the Freelance course, but I am still in “Raw Rookie” stage when it comes to Direct Response. Literally, I can’t move on to CD 2…Read more

First, stop freaking out. You’re on a new adventure, and while you may want to be at your destination right freakin’ now, you have to go through the process of getting there.
Patience will pay off. Things can happen quickly when you’re ready to pull the trigger, but the pressures of maintaining a lifestyle and family are not to be glossed over.…Read more

Thank you! This is the most level headed advice. I will read and re-read it. (Not obsessively or hot for teacher-like!) I needed to hear that about family too because life is so busy and it feels like I never get any time at all, Nevermind to pursue a dream. But I don’t want to lose sight of the important things in all of this and my main driver…Read more

Most important point first – MLM is a scam. Unless you started the company or your dream is to spend your days and night bugging your friends and family to buy whatever the thing is, you will almost certainly lose money. You might pick up a bit of business knowledge. One area you won’t is copywriting, because they won’t let you write a word of…Read more

No. I hate bugging fam and friends. And I hate being bugged about it too but it’s like a shiny object in my peripheral vision that distracts me. Thanks for your honesty. The dann thing costs $600 per month anyways as an investment!! Thanks again, have a great rest of your week.

John Carlton’s Best Ads: Slash Strokes… Without Even Trying!
