I’m interested in doing some affiliate marketing e.g. through JVZoo, using my new SWS copywriting skills. Is it possible to do affiliate marketing just using Adwords? I ask because it’s a whole different ballgame if I have to set up a landing page for each promotion.

For cold emails, is it better to write a short email and link to a longer online sales letter — or just write up a long, complete sales message in the email?

Happy New Year, Rebels! I sell a wellness plan to businesses that pays the business owner to have it, and it gives the employees a significant monthly benefit (in addition to the wellness plan itself). It’s a no-brainer.
When I meet with business owners, they take the information and say they will talk to their CPA. They don’t want to be…Read more

Hi Nanette: I think the key is what you said “when If I meet with a business owner who has known me for a while, they welcome the information and some sign up.”
You have to position yourself as the expert. First, I would write a book to use as a calling card. Get out to some networking events. Have you tried Linkedin? It enables you to…Read more

Thank you, Virginia. As a matter of fact, I have been a member of BNI, and am currently involved in a similar group. I’ve been to the Chamber of Commerce mixers.
The idea of a book would be interesting. I’ll have to consider that. This type of plan is so new that it could be a possible door-opener.
Thank you.
Nannette

Have you tried a local BNA? Or your local Chamber of Commerce? I would also research groups that CPAs would join, like a local chapter of the AICPA and try to get a speaking engagement there. I think the key to all of this is having your own book. We have quite a bit of info on that which is summarized here:…Read more

Nanette – Can you be more specific about your product and offer?
I’ve sold over lots of stuff to small business owners. Unless the product was about taxes or had a finance plan that clearly impacted taxes or cash flow, not a single business owner has ever told me they have to check with their accountant.
So I’m clearly not familiar with your…Read more

Thank you, Stan.
This product deals with tax savings. Is it possible to give you the details in a private message?
If the CPA is insurance licensed, I could possibly give them some of the profit.
I appreciate your input.

Nannette – I spend a few minutes on your site, and I have no idea what
you do. That’s probably not good.Lot’s of people tell me they can save me money on my taxes. I probably
have already hired a CPA I trust is doing that for me.My suggestion is you focus your home page on the benefits to the
employer. Emplo…Read more-
Thank you so much for your valuable insights, Stan! I will consider how to translate that into a site with more clarity, but without disclosing too much.

Hi Virginia, thanks for a great video on LinkedIn publishing. My question is whether it hurts website SEO if an article published on your website is also published on LinkedIn. I understand that there may be an SEO penalty, so when I republish a website article on LinkedIn, I just include the headline and introductory body text (a little different…Read more

Hi Greg: As far as I know, Google gives credit to the first time a piece of content is published. So, your website would not suffer if you republished an article on Linkedin, but the content on Linkedin would be considered duplicate content. The way you do it, though, will probably get more traffic to your site since you leave some info out and…Read more

Thanks Virginia. I’m more interested in getting traffic to my site, but if I can also rank well on LinkedIn that would be good to know.

As i think about it, it seems that you would be better off doing that kind of thing as an update rather than a published post. People read posts expecting to see an entire article, and if you do this often it may leave a less-than-optimal impression with your readers.
-
I agree, however the advantage of posts is that they accumulate at the top of your profile (with photos they look impressive), whereas updates quickly get lost amongst the flotsam of other updates. Also you can see stats on posts which is quite useful.

Hi everybody. I would like to transform my business to an online (format) market. I contracted to have my current site built and it has produced nothing! And my computer skills are marginal at best. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike: Unfortunately, most web designers have no clue about marketing, and you can’t just put up a site without doing something to drive traffic to it and without having compelling copy on the site itself. You can probably add those things to what he designed and then you will have something to work with.
If you have any specific questions,…Read more

Also, Mike, if you have any specific questions about your website we have our WP ninja Pete Hudson who is in charge of keeping Marketing Rebel sites up and running as efficiently as possible. He’s always happy to help and can answer a lot of the techy questions that make my eyes glaze over! Assuming your site is on Wordpress…

Mr. Hudson, actually after reading some of the Marketing Rebel material, I may just scrap what I have and begin again. Thank you

Mike – When you’re ready to post again, please include your website and/or more info about what you want your website to accomplish for the business.
Should it capture leads? Ask them to call you? Close sales?
There’s no such thing as the one best website design. It all starts with what you want the site to do for you and your business.

Thank you…

Absolutely, Thank you!

You used to be able to do that, but Google doesn’t like it when you send an ad just to a landing page. And a lot of niches are very expensive (weight loss, fitness, make money, etc). I think there are a lot of people who still do it, though. I don’t know that much about Adwords, though.
Is it a niche that you can use Facebook ads?
The folks I know who are making this work seem to be focusing exclusively on Facebook ads these days. FB is currently more tolerant of paid ads to offers by affiliates. Especially if you put some sort of quiz or advertorial between the FB ad and the offer page.
AdWords /Google (currently) has more rules and is more likely to enforce them.
Thanks Stan. There doesn’t seem to be a lot on this site about affiliate marketing tricks and tips, particularly FB ads by affiliates. Just a suggestion, perhaps for a future video. Affiliate marketing seems to be a natural fit for copywriters like me who want to try their hand at running their own business based on promoting someone else’s…Read more
You are correct that affiliate marketing is a great way for new copywriters to learn. The reason we don’t have anything specific about FB or AdWords affiliate marketing is the details of the rules change ALL the time. What doesn’t change is the fundamentals of copy and marketing. People who understand how to write persuasive copy survive the rule…Read more
