Evening Rebels,
I’d like some help with targeted questions I could ask the ladies that have registered for an upcoming workshop. At the end of the workshop I’ll ask them to join my membership community.
The interview/call before the workshop will help me
1. refine the workshop -…Read more -

There was some interesting dialogue between Rob and Stan around ethical marketing.
I have an idea for a “How To” product that I think could legitimately be the best in a (admittedly small) market.
It doesn’t need a fictional story behind it but I always thought a fictional story would be fun and create a lot of belief and enthusiasm in the…Read more

The FTC guidelines on how stories can and cannot be used in ads are vague. They also include wording and examples that contradict each other.
Every TV commercial you’ve ever seen has actors playing the role of a happy customer or an unhappy person who’s problem is about to be solved by Product X.
According the the FTC, perfectly legal. Until…Read more

Thanks Stan, I really appreciate the response, I’ve been curious about that for a long time.
It looks to me now that I’m going through the Club here that the good writers focus on making the truth interesting and effective. That actually sounds more fun anyways.
Thanks again

Man, a Jerry Tarkanian reference. Now my blood is pumping. Used to love watching that guy get after it.

Following in the footsteps of The Motley Fool seems to work. I ditched the squeeze page and wrote a short copy for a free “training manual” I give away when you sign up. The squeeze page has always shown lackluster results. So, I wrote some copy, added a “click thru” to a second page of copy and lo and behold…the conversion rate jumped 25%.

What are some industries/types of companies that commonly hire direct response copywriters? I’ve seen this info before but I’m drawing a blank. [sips more coffee…]

If you see them running an ad online, they are in the direct response game.
Pretty much every online ad is trying to get someone to respond. Click. Opt-in. Buy. Click again (on another ad or article).

I’ve been following The Motley fool for some time and I was wondering if I should begin implementing some of their funnel strategies. Currently, I just click on a Facebook book ad. The ad sent me to a free offer. Once I entered my email, they redirected me to a sales letter.
Here is where I question the redirect to sales page. Should we be…Read more

The Motley fool are no fools. They have probably tested this model. How much was the price of the upsell? A lot of times people will present an entry-level offer right after you sign up just to take advantage of any momentum you have built up. They get your email first, which is the important thing.

Hey Virginia,
The ad leads to a free report…when you enter the email…they send you to a VSL…the offer is for their financial newsletter which sells I think for $99 a year. The do a great job of adding value for the price of the subscription with their free bonuses.

Rob,
Why is it an ‘or’?
Once you have the mail, you can make and offer and continue to provide content.
Most people in most markets have short attention spans. I suggest you get an offer relevant to the reason they opt-ed in soon.
There are exceptions to this that work. A Product Launch has carefully constructed content that lasts up to 10…Read more

Easily create HTML snippets to add to your posts

An on-demand accountability partner?

My standby open-ended question is “What are you hoping to achieve/get from this workshop?”
People have a hard time to express what they actually want – specially if it is something in the future and abstract.
I found out that asking them what they do NOT want gives much clearer picture and something very specific for me to work with.
In this case I’d ask:
“what is not working for you right now and what disappointed you in the past if…Read more
Very true. Great insight, I appreciate the feedback.
Simple and effective! Thank you
If there are a manageable number of ladies participating, you might want to call them on the phone, speak with them for 15-20 minutes and get an idea as to what experience they have with this topic, where their specific interests lie, and, as Jonathan and Tanja said, find out what they are looking for and what has turned them off in the…Read more
