Hi there, I’m looking to freelance as a copywriter fulltime. I’ve picked up the Freelance Course and know I have to ‘get good.’ After finishing SWS I imagine I’ll be well on my way. How would you approach finding clients as someone with no previous copywriting gigs? (Do a lot of free work for random friends/business contacts? My own entrepren…Read more

As a way to improve my copywriting and marketing chops I signed up as an affiliate with my day job to sell colocation services. The small business customers don’t really know what they need or if they have a need and the tech companies they hire to take care of their IT stuff have tons of cheap options available. Pricing-wise we’re VERY…Read more

Hi Jonathan. A good go-to tactic is always the truth. Try a version of a pitch that simply lays out what you offer — competitive pricing (or even wild-ass bargains) for superior service, great guarantees, proven performance results, whatever.
You’ve probably got two types of potential client: Those who already use reloc and understand how it…Read more

So now I’m looking for the best way to pay the bill 🙂
I’ve freelanced for six years…Read more

I think you answered your own question on “quick”. Contact former clients. Email them something they’ll probably find interesting (link to article, send them a book, etc.). Then ask if there’s anything you can help with.
Asking them if they know anyone you might be able to help could uncover someone in their network.
Google existing clients to…Read more

In the Action Seminar video (James Schramko vid at mintute mark 67:00) there’s mention of a report Robert Gibson wrote. (My current instructor in Sales Beasts.) Can we get a download of that?? (:

Hi Jonathan: Robert created a couple of reports that he gives out. I’m not sure which one Kevin is referring to, but just post this question in your classroom, and Robert will know that you’re looking forward to getting his reports. I think he is referring to the one about how to put your sales letter together. If you want to reference this…Read more

Every successful freelancer has a different story to tell about their early career. Some took jobs for a while first, just to guarantee steady work. Others jumped into the fray, and positioned themselves as a great choice because “X” (they were cheaper, they delivered faster, they studied under a legend, whatever). And others just took every job…Read more
