In case it’s not clear from the above, the question I have is should I make a standalone sales page for each product, or can my sales page be my existing product page (with copy revamped)?

Can you post the link? This might be one of those things we need to see.

Most of the reports I see do not claim a big drop-off in conversions based on menu options at the top of the page.
