Hey everyone. Glad to be here… Big fan of John’s work.
I need help reducing refunds on my $997 infoproduct in the bizopp space.
Pre-pandemic refunds were at 10% which was manageable. Right now they’re at 18%, which is eating heavily into my profitability.
Currently the only thing I do to reduce refunds is congratulate them in the wel…Read more

Question …
Why do you recommend getting AWEBER vs. Constant Contact?
I just signed up for a paid Constant Contact account today.I saw in the email course this evening y’all recommend AWEBER.
I’m a newbie to email marketing. It’s been a confusing choice…
Thanks!

Both platforms have been through a lot of changes. I wouldn’t make that recommendation today.
The point, at the time, was that aWeber was simple, easy to get started, and they had much better deliverability.
Contant Contact would let you load any email in and start…Read more

Hi Kieran,
In a slowing / down economy, you’re going to get more refunds on a $997 product. Still, and 80% increase is higher than I’d expect.
Do you have any more data?
How many days after purchase to people request a refund? Any change to that in the past 5 months?
Pre-covid, did your customer get different results the first 30(?)…Read more
Hi Kieran: If you aren’t doing this already, you might try giving them a Quick Start guide. Something that gives them an easy way to get started and a specific path through your training. The biggest hurdle is to get people to actually log in and do something, so you should make them want to get started ASAP.
One thing that you could test is…Read more
Stan & Virginia, thanks for the replies! Some food for thought already.
So, we actually have a 7 day refund policy and always have. I debated having no refund policy as I didn’t want tire kickers but went with 7 days in the end. I would’ve assumed that a shorter refund policy would reduce refunds now that Amazon etc have got people in to the hab…Read more
With a little empathy and salesmanship, you can get better answers on why they refunded on the phone.
I suggest you think hard about your refund period. I expect you’ll see a noticeable increase in sales if you go to 30 or 90 days.
Does it cost you anything to have a longer refund period? Are you paying people to work with them during the 7…Read more
