Exercises:

  1. List 5 assertions that you make in your letter. Add some of the different types of proof that David describes to make them more believable.

  2. If you have no testimonials, ask current customers why they purchased the product and what results they have obtained. Add these to your letter.

  3. Add a mechanism that your prospects will find compelling. If necessary, use your imagination to create one like David explains.

  4. Dig down to unearth the “story” that will make your product irresistible.

  5. Is your product complex? Read through the letter with an eye to simplify how you describe it to your prospects.

  6. How does your letter give value to the reader whether they buy your product or not?

  7. What flaws does your product have? Who will it not help? Address these in your letter to increase trust.

  8. Why should people buy from you? What special training, background, experience do you have that will make your prospect comfortable that you are the one they want to do business with?

  9. Are you promising too much? Make sure your proof backs up your promises.
