Hey y’all! excited to be here. I just joined and I am excited for the next 8 weeks! I have been a big fan of Johns work for a long time and after branching off from my company a year ago I thought it was time to jump in and learn a little more about copy, salesmanship, and marketing.
Currently I am looking to improve my copywritting skills and…Read more

Hi,
how do we settle a landing page as a home page?
I can’t figure out how to customize a great home page. So i would like to use a landing page instead.

Hı,
İ have a question about Email list.Would you suggest buying them or doin posts and wait for people from YouTube, pinter est… to suscribe? Can we actually be confident and wait for traffic on our website to grow by itself?
Thank you.
Sorry for my language.-
Hi Alvine: Don’t buy an email list. Anyone who has a good list would never sell it so all you get are ones that are junk.
You can’t just wait for people to visit your site. You have to get free traffic from Youtube, pinterest, Facebook, etc. or buy it with Google, Facebook or Youtube ads. This way you know that the people on your list are…Read more

Hı, Is there any difference between selling to the poor vs selling to the affluent? Because i’ve realize that the same tactic that i use for some of my clients simply doesn’t work for the other. But I would like to know the process so I can do it conciously not just dabble.
Thanks -

I want to be able to build my list

The best way to build a list hasn’t changed. Create (or find) something that your prospects want. Either offer it to them for free or for a small fee. Free stuff builds your list faster but also will include people who just want stuff for free. Offering stuff at a small fee will get you a smaller list but it will be a buyer’s list, which is…Read more

John Carlton’s Best Ads: Butt-Ugly Golf
I've written something like 4,000 direct mail letters and direct response ads for golf products now. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but not much. Sometimes, the best ads come from sheer desperation. I was hitting the very bottom of my bag of tricks last year,...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: Everything And The Kitchen Sink #2 – Entire Library Of Fighting Videos
There are two ads referenced in this commentary. This is the second one (last couple of paragraphs). Another Rodale piece-- this time, they got impatient selling individual books about the various parts of men's lives... and decided to just lump everything together...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: The Financial Bloodbath Caused By Criminal Scum
Gary Halbert gets credit for the headline and concept on this one. I was working with him at the time, in the last days of the Reagan presidency, when the financial markets -- and especially the precious metals markets -- were causing investors migraines. Banks were...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: The Nearly-Crippled Businessman
Here is an early self-defense letter, which struck a major nerve in the customer base for this market. It's run every year for the last decade in the major magazines and mailed even more often to hotlists. The appeal is simple and to the point: This is hard-core...
