I’d love some feedback on the title of my lead magnet. It started out as “7 Things NOT to do When Speaking to an Audience that NO ONE is Telling You”. I recently changed it to “7 Uncommon Secrets of Public Speaking the Pros Use.” The content is the same.

Hi ERIGGA:
In order to get feedback on your letter you have to post it here. There is a post on how to do that here: https://1023.marketingrebelclub.com/lessons/post-pdfs-in-the-clubhouse/
It also has links to articles explaining how to create a PDF if you don’t already have it in PDF format.

Hi Virgina,
I hope you are doing well!
Few days ago, I bought the Kick-Ass Copywriting, but I am kind of obsessed with research, since EVERY A-list Copywriter says it is so crucial….
And I don’t know how and where to research, how to identify the ideal customer and so on.
My question: Could be so kind a point some research I can dive into…Read more-
Hi Koffi: In your market research you want to identify the main competitors and get a handle on the size of the market (in part to determine if there is a market there).
Usually if you are in a market you will know who your main competitors are. If it is a new market, you can google the name of the product and see who comes up. Go to their…Read more

Hi Virginia,
Thank you for the quick response, much appreciated.
The other thing Im not sure about is deciding exactly which area of copywriting to follow. Looking at information online, people seem to advise concentrating on one aspect such as direct mail, white papers, technical papers, landing pages, SEO etc…I have information overload…Read more

John Carlton’s Best Ads: Butt-Ugly Golf
I've written something like 4,000 direct mail letters and direct response ads for golf products now. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but not much. Sometimes, the best ads come from sheer desperation. I was hitting the very bottom of my bag of tricks last year,...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: Everything And The Kitchen Sink #2 – Entire Library Of Fighting Videos
There are two ads referenced in this commentary. This is the second one (last couple of paragraphs). Another Rodale piece-- this time, they got impatient selling individual books about the various parts of men's lives... and decided to just lump everything together...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: The Financial Bloodbath Caused By Criminal Scum
Gary Halbert gets credit for the headline and concept on this one. I was working with him at the time, in the last days of the Reagan presidency, when the financial markets -- and especially the precious metals markets -- were causing investors migraines. Banks were...
John Carlton’s Best Ads: The Nearly-Crippled Businessman
Here is an early self-defense letter, which struck a major nerve in the customer base for this market. It's run every year for the last decade in the major magazines and mailed even more often to hotlists. The appeal is simple and to the point: This is hard-core...
Hi Donna,
Can you set up a split test and run each title past at least a few hundred people?
There are so many variables with headlines like this. Any time you can test, that’s going to be your best option.

Ok. That’s well beyond where I am right now.
New question: How do I navigate the site? There’s so much on there and it’s confusing to know where to start.
I don’t have time to dig around and figure it out. I just want to know where to start and how to progress.
Hi Donna:
There is no one path for everyone on this site. You have to start where you are right now.
What type of business are you in, and what are the roadblocks you are currently facing?
We have information on all types of marketing tools, but it can be overwhelming if you don’t stay focused on what you want to achieve. You can’t just go…Read more
