Hi Guys. I am so happy to be a part of this group. I know I’m new, but I have a situation I could definitely use help with, because I’m not sure I’m going at this the right way. I have a website that I’m putting together to generate leads for Dentists who perform dental implants for people.
My website is: http://www.bestdentalimplantdoctor.com The…Read more

I have a very important question:
How much time it takes – on average – to write a copy (in my case 5-6 pages )?
Thanks
-
Hi Jan: There is no way to predict that. It depends on how much you know about the topic, your own experience, how fast you can write, and many other factors. Something that may take one person 3 or 4 days could take a few weeks for someone else.
-
Thanks Virginia. I understand it’s very difficult to predict I’m just looking for a ballpark estimate. With this one I’ve just written the research alone took me 3-4 days, but probably because of the lack of experience. I had to turn it over in a week and the guy says it took too long, but I think he’d say it no matter how long it took. I re-read…Read more

Probably one of the most important things, and one of the hardest, if you are new to copywriting, is to manage the client’s expectations. And to not turn anything in that is not up to your standards. As you go you will figure out how long it will take you to do certain things, and you can give better estimates. I would always pad the estimate,…Read more

Hello,
I’m looking for tips on how to write an ad in an interview format…
Difficult to find anything proven to swipe.-
Hi Jan: The only ads I have seen in that format are on infomercials. You could try that, but you have to stop and think that if there aren’t any current ads using that format there must be a reason for it. If they were effective, a lot of marketers would be using them.
-
Hi Virginia,
Thanks for your advise.
I realize this format is not very popular and it’s not my idea. I’m just helping someone who was comissioned to write it. The only to go I see here is try to mirror the questions playing in customer’s head and put it in the mouth of the interviewer. -
Just make sure this other person doesn’t get trapped.
The client may want the letter done in this manner but if it is something that is doomed from the start and your friend still goes ahead with it he/she will be blamed if it doesn’t work, even though it isn’t their fault. Sometimes it is better to pass on a job if the client is asking…Read more

Hi Jan. If my requirement was to delivery copy designed to sell something in an interview format, I’d set my DVR to record infomercials all night and search YouTube for old infomercials.
Then I’d break them down, minute-by-minute, to see how they used the time. (You’ll see most of these have a pattern to them.)
For example, they don’t go 10…Read more

Thank you Virginia. We both realize it’s a dangerous proposition. The good thing it’s not keyed ad – so they won’t really know how effective it’s going to be. We’re doing this the way we want (to an extent) and so far they’ve accepted everything and it looks like our copy will appear in a popular weekly magazine (300k circulation). We’re…Read more

Hi Stan. Thank you for your reply and great piece of advice. I will look through the old infomercials and try to use bits and pieces. It will be tricky as the ad is in different language….
We will definitely have to go through some course on how to get good customers and get screwed over in future. -
I mean “NOT” get screwed over of course:)

Just continuing to optimize my cold traffic funnels and Facebook ads…
I’ve been doing very well with my long-copy Facebook ads -> Opt in -> OTO -> Upsell but there is always room for improvement…
Better hooks and better stories are probably my biggest opportunity… But I’m just here to get some new ideas from John from the hotseats…Read more

Hey @miles awesome to have you here brother!
If you post links to some of that stuff (ads, opt-ins, etc.), maybe we can help you find some ways to improve!

Hi Miles: You are welcome to request a hot seat and have John and Stan go over your funnel or ads. Just click on the link in the right column (under hot seats and consulting) to request a hot seat.

Hey Anthony,
Good stuff.
Few things to think about. Most importantly, test whatever you can!
1) Why the “get a consultation” button (which doesn’t go anywhere at the moment) if you want them to call? Replace the button with “call XXX-XXX-XXXX now for a free consultation”
2) Is the slider necessary? I know client’s think they’re awesome but I have…Read more
Hi Anthony: Ryan makes some excellent points. I have a few additional comments and made a short video, which is here: https://www.screencast.com/t/15K03yRB4O
Hope this helps
Thank you so much Ryan and Virginia for taking out the time to help me with this. I appreicate the advice and I will be making some of the changes you recommended.
Thank you very much,
Anthony
I watched Virginia’s video and very much agree. I assumed the name was something that can’t be changed. If you have the power to change it… do it. I also agree with the dentist/specialist thing. Separate them as “dental specialist” (it’s a relatively popular keyword) or cosmetic dentist, as Virgina suggested. Targeting the city is a great idea.…Read more
@antmiller Hey Anthony, good start here. Your headline seems pretty solid. I have 2 things for you to change that will make this better.
#1) Take out that before-after comparison picture. I don’t know if you’ve ever read Claude Hopkin’s Scientific Advertising book (John Carlton recommended marketers read it 7 times), but at one point in this book…Read more
Thanks Tommy, good point. I’m going to see how I can get up an additional page and then split test it. It would be really interesting to see the results. Thanks for your insight.
@antmiller my pleasure! Good idea, I’m interested to see what happens. Maybe post your results when you get them? 🙂
Your copy is good and the before and after photos do a good job selling, you dont have a messenger plugin so they can connect and chat with you on FACEBOOK.
Also I didnt see a clear offer, or bait to collect email addresses
