I am brand new to copywriting (and to The Insider’s Club). I began my journey three months ago with Kick-Ass Copywriting Secrets. From there, I practically knocked out every single book that was recommended by John and recommendations in Gary Halbert’s books.
I’m currently in a mentorship recommended by Bond Halbert and just wrote my first…Read more

One of the best ways to get ideas for ads is to see what is already working. There are several services which promise (for a fee) to show you […]

I wanted to see if anyone here knew the best person or course to learn how to get free publicity? I have heard little bit about Paul hartunians course and I have also heard about an approach of just pitching yourself in emails that are highly targeted to the show runners needs. Like pitching them an idea and outline it then present some proof and…Read more

Hi Will: The 2 people I know of in that space are Clint Arthur and Steve Harrison.
I don’t know a lot about Steve Harrison but I think he helps people get on the radio as well as TV, whereas Clint focuses on TV.
I took Clint’s course when he was just getting started 6 years ago and booked myself on about a dozen TV spots. The course I took is…Read more

If you want to check them out, just Google their names and you will see their listings.

Great thanks Virginia. What was his old course called?
-
I don’t remember. It was only available for a year or so. Then he started the Celebrity Launchpad. I don’t think he has any entry level courses now.
-
I should have said “lower tier courses”, not “entry level”. You don’t have to have any previous experience to do Celebrity Launchpad, but it is not cheap. I don’t know how much it costs, so don’t ask. Just google “celebrity launchpad” and you can get info on it.

It is $10k or 6 payments of $2k. If it works it works. I don’t think I could get my business partner to go along with that much as of right now but….I do believe this year I will get to where we could
-
Steve Harrison may have a less expensive intro course. The thing I like about Clint is that everything he teaches is stuff he himself does. I don’t know if Steve appears on TV and radio or just coaches about how to do it. He has been around a long time, though.

My question is: How would you proceed?
Background: I am an Austrian guy, currently located in Moscow, Russia for family reasons. I’ll be here for at least the next 3-4 weeks.
I am currently at a crossroads concerning what offer I should be putting out first in order to be most effective in producing a solid income. An info product, a…Read more

John Carlton’s Best Ads: A Really Long Letter To Every Bodybuilder Who Secretly Believes The Fat Cats Are Ripping Him Off
Here is that notoriously-long letter I wrote to the bodybuilding market a few years back. It's a trimmed-down version of the 23-page letter that originally went out - we condensed a bunch of the charts and whittled the thing down to a nice and tidy 16 pages....
John Carlton’s Best Ads: The 17th Version
This is one of the first letters I wrote for Gary Halbert. And it almost killed me. You see, I was already a hard worker. When I went solo as a freelance writer, I had one rule: Business before pleasure. I had spent my twenties being a...

The Freelance Course

Hi John: You make a lot of wild claims in this letter, and you call your competition chumps, idiots and scammers (not very professional). This letter reads like biz-op. Not what you want when going to local businesses. You have to tell them who you are and why they should listen to you.
Also, I think you have to rethink your offer. If you…Read more

Hi John: “generated enough leads” s/b “generate”.
Your letter contains a lot of power words, but they are most negative and this has a cumulative effect. Filthy rich, every damn day, websites suck, piss off, begging you to buy, advertising is written by idiots, etc. Also, you might work the headline some. “How to…” sales pitches are so…Read more
